There is beauty to be found in the act of preparing a simple glass of water on a daily basis, a scenario that is nevertheless essential and so often unconscious. I was particularly drawn to the reflections, refractions and distortions created by light passing through liquid and glass. Transparency against opacity, line against curve, hard against soft. The calligraphic work of the brushstrokes in the background placed at an angle as well as some points of warm light give movement to the composition.

Il y a de la beauté à trouver dans l'acte de se préparer un simple verre d'eau au quotidien, scénario pourtant essentiel et si souvent inconscient. J'ai été particulièrement attiré par les reflets, les réfractions et les distorsions créées par la lumière traversant le liquide et le verre. La transparence contre l'opacité, la ligne contre la courbe, le dur contre le mou. Le travail calligraphique des coups de pinceaux à l'arrière-plan placé en angle ainsi que quelques points de lumière chaude donnent du mouvement à la composition.
